RE: Skipjacks Hockey Club Expansion – USPHL PREMIER
The Skipjacks Hockey Club is pleased to announce the addition of a USPHL Premier Junior team to be based in York, PA for the 2017-2018 season. The USPHL Premier Division is a top East Coast league with a great reputation for helping to develop and prepare NCAA hockey players. The location of USPHL Premier teams provides a great path for many players given the proximity of so many NCAA programs at both the Division I and III levels. The Skipjacks are extremely excited to be adding a Junior team to its growing program. Both U18 and U16 teams, which also compete in the USPHL have garnered national attention over the past several years.
We are equally proud to announce that Lennie Childs has accepted the positon of Head Coach for the new USPHL Premier team. Childs began his coaching career after graduating from Concordia University, where he played NCAA Division III Hockey, and graduated with a degree in Marketing/Sports Management. While staying in Wisconsin after college, Lennie created and built his elite training and development program while helping prepare players to compete in AAA hockey. Lennie played his youth hockey with Team Maryland AAA under Jason Kersner, and was Captain of the team that finished 3rd in the USA Hockey 18U Nationals in 2010. During that season, he accepted a tender with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL and spent 2 years in that program. With a background in Junior and NCAA hockey, Lennie is a perfect fit to help grow young men into great people and to develop players to play at the next level.
The Skipjacks will host an open tryout camp in York, PA for the USPHL Premier team during the weekend of April 21-23. Please Click here to learn more about the tryout camp and register.
